Chief Executive Officer and Interim Board Chair

Math’ieya Alatini is an advocate for health and unity across the Yukon and a leader in Northern communities, health programs, and community engagement. A Southern Tutchone matriarch and member of the Kluane First Nation, her leadership is informed by her heritage and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria.  As former Chief of Kluane First Nation, she championed energy independence and economic resilience. Presently, as Chief Strategist at GSD Strategies Inc., Math’ieya leads initiatives that support the implementation of Yukon’s Modern Treaties.

Kari Johnston

Kari Johnston is deeply committed to social impact, community resilience, and entrepreneurial innovation, particularly in the Yukon. Graduating from University of Waterloo, Kari has had an expansive career, leading her to found Rafter 14 Strategies, a consultancy focused on designing and implementing social impact programs. Kari has also played a critical role in managing the COVID-19 response in the Yukon. Most recently, she has embraced the role of Chief Executive Officer of Sha Shaw Corporation, the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations social impact corporation.

Amanda Johnston brings her diverse heritage and holistic perspective to One Yukon as a proud member of the Crow Clan with deep connections to her Kaska and Tahltan ancestry. With extensive experience in governance and community engagement, she leverages her expertise in community-centric health solutions to make valuable contributions across various initiatives. Amanda previously served as the Vice President of People and Culture at Kermode Consulting.

Geri-Lee Buyck is a visionary leader and advocate for community empowerment, sustainability, and healing. Deeply rooted in her Wolf Clan lineage, she is inspired by a matrilineal lineage of strong women, including Mary McMahon, Lena Malcolm, Helen Buyck, and Mary Hager. Geri-Lee’s journey is marked by significant accolades and experiences, including being honoured with the Arctic Inspiration Prize in 2020, contributing to the Northern Council for Global Cooperation, engaging in health and social services, and traversing the globe as a citizen journalist.

Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Carolina Koutras is a biomedical scientist and change-maker dedicated to creating a world fueled by scientific impact and innovation. Before joining One Yukon in 2023, Dr. Koutras founded Heros Biotech, a company committed to advancing animal health through technology development. She has a background in health innovation and infectious diseases and has also successfully led global science and research and development initiatives across institutions. Dr. Koutras holds a PhD from Universite Laval and a BSc from Paris Descartes University.

Bringing nearly two decades of experience from the Yukon Government, she combines professional excellence with a deep-rooted connection to the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations Wolf Clan. As the Program Officer, Sherry is pivotal in engaging and onboarding communities as part of the wastewater program expansion.

Epidemiologist

Justine is an emerging epidemiologist with a Master of Science in Epidemiology and a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Sociology. Graduating from Queens University, Justine is passionate about understanding the intersection of social factors, physical science, and health outcomes. Formerly the Director of her local sexual health resource centre, she remains committed to promoting sexual health education and advocacy. Justine believes in humanizing data and prioritizes seeing people as individuals beyond statistics, embodying a holistic approach to her work in epidemiology.

Mohamed Kharbouch

Mohamed Kharbouch

Epidemiologist

Mohamed is an accomplished epidemiologist and statistician with a Master’s in Epidemiology from the University of Laval and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from Louvain la Neuve University in Belgium. With an extensive public health and surveillance background, he has demonstrated experience in implementing population health assessments across various roles. Previously, Mohamed has worked with the Department of National Defense, the Canadian Institute for Health Information, and Alberta Health Services.

Katie Gregg is passionate about fostering social justice and advancing community-driven change in the territory. She is a recent graduate of Queen’s University with a degree focusing on both Global Development as well as Indigenous Knowledges and Perspectives. Her academic journey has motivated her interests in policy development, health promotion, treaty adherence, and support of equitable social development.

Eileen Peter is a dynamic Freelance Creative. Passionate about storytelling and writing with an acute eye for detail, she offers an expansive repertoire, including graphic design, social media management, copywriting, branding, and marketing. Eileen proudly represents her Northern Tutchone community as a member of the Crow Clan and consistently seeks opportunities to integrate her culture into her work. She finds inspiration in her grandmothers and daughter, serving as a bridge between generations to carry traditions forward.
